Saltaire in Spring

Saltaire in Spring by Sven Shaw

Saltaire in Spring is one of a series of Yorkshire cityscapes across the different seasons. Saltaire is a Victorian “model village” near Bradford that was built by the industrialist Sir Titus Salt. He chose the site for his large textile mill and built the surrounding village to house the factory’s workers. My illustration features many of the buildings of interest including:

  • Salts Mill
  • Victoria Hall
  • The almshouses
  • United Reformed Church
  • Salt Building, Shipley College
  • Shipley Glen Tramway
